Our History

Zaiwalla & Co LLP was founded in 1982 by our senior partner, Sarosh Zaiwalla. Sarosh began his career in shipping law and arbitration, and then branched out into non-shipping arbitration. Our new offices were opened by the Chief Justice and President of India.

In that year we hired a young barrister named Tony Blair, affording Mr Blair in 1983 the only occasion in which the three-time Prime Minister appeared in the Law Report.

Today the firm practices from its offices in Chancery Lane in the heart of the legal district in the City of London and close to the Royal Courts of Justice. We act for both domestic and overseas clients including corporations and state entities, as well as individuals. Our practice areas cover both contentious and non-contentious law, including both domestic and international litigation, international commercial arbitration, shipping, banking, project finance, energy, company, commercial, property and immigration.

The Firm benefits from the expertise of a strong team, including specialists in the laws of Russia, China, India and Iran.
